Joaquin Tosi, MD
Dr. Tosi is a third-generation ophthalmologist whose family legacy in eye care began with his grandfather, Dr. Bruno Tosi, a revered figure in the field known for his tenure as Chairman of Ophthalmology and Vice-Dean at the Medical School, where he mentored numerous physicians.
His impressive foundation in ophthalmology was laid at the Instituto de la Vision, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he completed both his residency in ophthalmology and a retina fellowship. His quest for knowledge led him to New York, where he undertook a post-doctoral research fellowship in Retinal Degenerations and Electrophysiology at Columbia University, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Stephen Tsang.
Continuing his journey in the United States, Dr. Tosi completed his residency in ophthalmology and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Gary Abrams at the Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan. In 2016, Dr. Tosi was appointed as the Director of the Retina Service and Director of the Visual Electrophysiology Laboratory at the University of New Mexico, where he founded the first Retina Dystrophy clinic in the state. Before joining the Lipman Tosi Retina Consultants, Dr. Tosi also enriched his experience in one of New York and Oklahoma's premier ophthalmology practices.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tosi has been at the forefront of retinal clinical research, serving as a principal investigator in numerous pivotal trials, and his extensive work is well-documented in a variety of peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Tosi's clinical expertise spans a comprehensive range of conditions and surgeries related to the retina and vitreous.
